Heat Plan Database

The Heat Plan Database is an experimental tool that provides access to over 2,000 heat-related actions extracted from 200 planning documents nationwide.

Data was manually extracted from plans identified through the following strategies:

Systematic search of the following plan types:

  • Extreme heat plans (states and top-50 most populous counties/cities)

  • Hazard mitigation plans (states and top-50 most populous counties/cities)

  • Climate action plans/sustainability plans (states)

  • Resilience plans (states)

  • Emergency response plans, Emergency operations plans, Urban forestry plans, Comprehensive plans (in progress)

Convenience search in Georgetown’s Adaptation Clearinghouse:

  • Climate action plans/sustainability plans (city/county)

  • Resilience plans (city/county)

What's missing?

  • Emergency response/operations plans (in progress)

  • Urban forestry plans (in progress)

  • Some comprehensive plans (in progress)

  • Rural & low population areas
